Serve on an NCARB Committee

Service on an NCARB committee is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the development of policies that impact the licensure process and help strengthen the protection of the public. In addition, volunteers are able to gain a deeper understanding of the work the Council conducts on behalf of licensing boards and the public, while learning best practices from their peers around the country.

The next committee cycle will run from July 2023 through June 2024.  The application window is now closed, for questions please Contact Us

Architect Licensing Advisory Community
Architect licensing advisors are local professionals, educators, and students who volunteer their time to help others pursue licensure and reciprocity. These volunteers often provide candidates with their first glimpse into the licensure process, lending help and guidance along the way. Similar to a supervisor or mentor, candidates look to their advisors for insight into completing the AXPpassing the ARE, and meeting licensure and reciprocity requirements.

Serve on a licensing board
Service on a state or territorial licensing board is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of architectural regulatory policies that protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

In an effort to ensure the public benefits from a diverse and engaged licensing board, NCARB is publicizing board vacancies for licensed architects, architect educators, public members, and other professionals.

Freedom By Design

Available on campuses across the United States, FBD gives students the opportunity to change lives, gain experience, and interact with practicing architects and professionals. Whether you’re a student or an architect interested in supervising a project, reach out to your local AIAS chapter to learn how you can get involved with an FBD program or start your own.

NCARB has partnered with AIAS to support FBD by providing mentorship opportunities with members of state licensing boards and firms and by offering chapters grants for building materials.

Due to COVID-19, FDB projects have been put on hold. We are hopeful that we will be able to offer this opportunity for the Fall 2021 semester. Stay tuned for more details.
